Poland has launched the EagleEye satellite, a project that began in April 2020 and has finally been successfully completed, taking a crucial step in its development in space science and technology. The mission, facilitated by SpaceX from Vandenberg Space Force Base in California, highlights the country’s ability to design and manage highly complex space projects.

The development of EagleEye is the result of a collaborative effort between the consortium led by Creotech Instruments SA, Scanway Sp.z.oo and the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences, which serves as a scientific partner. They have been working for more than three years to design and build the satellite, whose primary mission is to provide high-resolution images of the Earth for research and observation purposes.
The mission is expected to last at least a year, during which EagleEye will maintain a low-altitude orbit, gradually descending from 500 to 350 kilometers above the Earth’s surface. The satellite will be controlled from a center located at Creotech Instruments’ headquarters in Warsaw, where its operations will be monitored in real time.
Although the complete success of the mission is not yet guaranteed, the launch is a historic milestone for Polish space science, emphasized Tomasz Barszynski, a representative of the Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences. EagleEye was designed entirely in Poland, from initial planning to final integration, with the exception of some components such as microprocessors, which had to be imported.
