PRD leader sees “disorder” and “mistake” of the government» | AlMomento.net

Miguel Vargas Maldonado

San Cristobal

In the community of Nigua in the province, Vargas spoke at an event where Benito Reyes (Maniquin) was announced as a mayoral candidate.

“It can be verified today that the education system is a resource wastage of 4% of GDP. Likewise, fundamental rights violations such as those condemned by the United Nations are evident,” he declared.

“Flaw and Mistake”

“We Dominicans have been able to confirm the depravity and wrongdoing of this government,” he added.

“To all this, we add the increase in air ticket fares from next January, which constitutes an attack on one of the country’s main sources of foreign exchange and, after the Covid-19 pandemic, means the macro economy. The source of stability and the economic recovery we are enjoying.”

Budget deficit

“Now we are aware of the alarming situation of budget deficit which the government blames, recorded within the framework of the budget amendment,” he added.

The Aerodome deal was called into question

He said the renegotiation of the Dominican airport agreement has taken the Dominican people by surprise. According to him, “This is a move plagued by opacity, which shows the current government’s need to cover budget deficits and its willingness to trade in the face of declines in important areas of progress.”

He pointed out that a renegotiation of that deal would threaten tourism and, as a result, “we will be paying more expensive airline tickets.”

“Certainly, dishonesty and flagrant violation of local and international laws, principles and treaties are part of the identity and indelible stain of this appalling government,” he said.
