Work continues on the Plaza “Jose Aldo Igor” in Cuerno Costa. The recreational and sports space is located between Santa Clara Avenue and United States Street, in the heart of the southern Comodoro Rivadavia neighborhood.
On Monday afternoon, Director of the Sports Directorate, Martin Goresic, and Minister of Sports, Fernando Mateve, toured the venue with neighborhood leaders.
“We are very happy, it is something we have been insisting on permanently with the sporting entity of the Commodore,” said Fernando Broca, president of the Quirno Costa neighborhood federation. “The ball went down the street and you have to be careful because it leads into the (US) road, and this is dangerous,” he said on the court.
For the upcoming works, the local reference said: “We have high expectations of what is going to happen in this area, we hope it will be adapted a little more, painted, and in the future it can have artificial turf, and this will decompress the other beach we have on Lisandro de la avenue. Tori”.
“This is a square that continues to grow and progress, we already have a lit and painted area and some games have been changed. We have also ordered a ‘soft square.’ We continue to work with the Comodoro Deportes Autarchic entity that is always willing to help us.”
The square in the Quirno Costa neighborhood is a place with a lot of history and, at the request of neighbors, bears the name “José Aldo Igor”, who was a historic neighbor who looked after and maintained it for a long time.
“We introduced ourselves in the Consultative Council of Comodoro Rivadavia and the draft decree was put together so that the square has a name. It generates this sense of belonging, because it is a historical neighbor of the neighbourhood. This square bears the name of the neighbor José Aldo Igor and this is a source of pride,” stressed Broca.
