Roku is a tool that allows you to stream to TV. But in addition to giving access to apps like Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, Peacock, and more, Roku also has its own free content platform, the Roku Channel, where starting today you can find a Spanish language content area: Espacio Latino.
“Espacio Latino includes thousands of hours of VOD (Video on Demand) content and will also include linear channels,” explains Thalina Bates, Roku Channel’s Spanish AVOD Content Director.
The content is free to the user but it includes “while playing” ads, i.e. the ads jump while you are watching. Currently, there will be no “pre-roll” ads before each segment begins, says Bates, who estimates the advertising load is half what is typically found in traditional commercial television.
“We have partnered with several content providers such as Telemundo, Cisneros, Hemisphere, Weather Group … so that they can bring us new content. In addition, we have already collaborated with TelevisaUnivision, Lionsgate and A&E, which provide us with dubbed Spanish language content. Also with a translation,” Bates explains.
Some of the available titles are novels like “The Lord of the Skies”, “El Chema”, “Señora Acero”, “La Doña” and more. Also movies like “Don’t smudge Frida” also “Comrades”. league “Hernan” The 8-episode history of Hernan Cortes will be available for the first time in the United States.
Some will also be fed Espacio Latino by some Rocco’s Origins -Roku original productions- Like the series “mothers” Narrated by Zoe Saldana. On July 8th they will release the song “Natural Born Narco”. In December they will also have a cooking program “Delicious” by Robert Rodriguez.
To access the Roku channel, it is not entirely necessary to own a physical Roku gadget, as the app is available on other Amazon Fire TV platforms, some Samsung TVs, iOS and Android devices, and also directly on the web.
