Russia is strengthening its defensive positions east of Kherson

According to Ukrainian officials, Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure continued overnight

Russian shelling and missile attacks overnight targeted civilian infrastructure, including gas and electricity facilities, according to Ukrainian officials.

Russia shelled the Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Thursday morning, wounding five people, the head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, Valentin Reznichenko, said on Telegram, citing preliminary information.

“Among them is a 15-year-old girl. All of them are in hospital in moderate condition,” Reznichenko said, adding that two residential districts were affected and an “industrial plant” was now on fire.

“Missiles are flying over Ukraine,” Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmihal told the Kyiv International Economic Forum on Thursday.

“They’re trying to get to our gas plant, Pivdenmash [una planta de construcción de maquinaria en la ciudad central ucraniana de Dnipro] And some other facilities,” Schmihal said.

And Kyrillo Tymoshenko, deputy head of Ukraine’s presidential office, said in a Telegram message that there had been “several successes in two infrastructure items” in Dnipro.

Three more men injured in missile attacks that hit “critical infrastructure” in Izium in the Kharkiv region on Thursday morning have been hospitalized, the region’s governor, Oleh Syniehubov, said in a telegram.

The Odesa region in the south of the country was also hit by Russian strikes on Thursday, according to Maksym Marchenko, the head of the Odesa regional administration, who said in a Telegram post that there was a “missile attack on a regional infrastructure facility.”

A little context: Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure have resumed after Moscow forces fired 100 missiles at at least a dozen cities and districts on Tuesday, according to Ukrainian officials and a CNN analysis of the attacks. The attacks appear to be the biggest since October 10, when Russia stepped up its campaign to destroy electricity, water and gas infrastructure across Ukraine.
