As of August 6, 2021, China’s Zhurong rover has worked on the surface of Utopia Planitia Mars for 82 Martian days, with a cumulative mileage of more than half a mile of 808 meters.
Today, the Tianwen 1 mission’s Zhurong rover traverses complex terrain with densely distributed rocks, impact craters and sand dunes. The rear obstacle avoidance camera took this photo of the vehicle just above the rocks.
On the other hand, the Tianwen 1 mission orbiter has been in orbit for 379 days and the one-way communication delay between the device and Earth is approximately 21 minutes and 23 seconds. The operating conditions of each system are normal, it reports. CLEP (China’s Lunar and Deep Space Exploration Program).
The main objective of the mission is to find possible signs of life on Mars and to help scientists understand whether conditions on the planet may alter in a way that is suitable for people in the future.
