A man from El Paso, Texas was arrested on Monday morning, January 8, for allegedly harassing Shakira.
Daniel John Voltaire, 56, was arrested outside the Miami Beach mansion where the singer has been living with her children Milan and Sasha since last year, police revealed, according to 7 News Miami.
Shakira's stalker claimed he was having an affair with her
According to the arrest report, Shakira's bodyguard, Daniel John Voltaire, was known through his social media posts and deliveries to his home in late December and early 2024.
In her 'posts' on digital platforms, the accused falsely claimed that she was in a relationship with the translator of 'Ojos Asi' and that they were married and having a family.
Despite several warnings from the star and his crew, Voltaire continued to send packages containing bottles of wine, chocolates and toys to his home.
Officials explained that staff caring for the singer-songwriter shared the man's release with them on Wednesday, indicating he was in Florida with the intent of searching for him.
As a result of this report, when Daniel John arrived in a taxi to the Colombian woman's property, he was apprehended by local authorities.
Law enforcement officials said he did not know Shakira or any of her family members, and that he now faces harassment charges.
As of this Tuesday, January 9, Voltaire still appeared on the Miami-Dade County inmate search page, the Miami Diario reports.
It said he was fined $2,500 for renting a car with intent to defraud; However, for the offense of harassment, the amount to be released is not specified.

On his Instagram account, Daniel John Voltaire posted a letter on October 9, 2023, in which he talked about the pop superstar as if he were his partner.
“When I marry Shakira, I'm going to adopt children. “She wants to be American like her father and share the rest of her life with me,” he wrote.
“We are going to own a trucking business, sing songs, promote, manage and own a global clothing manufacturing company…” he added.
