Former Espanyol president Joan Collett described Barcelona’s La Liga Santander title celebrations on the pitch at the RCDE stadium as “provocative” after winning the derby (2-4) this Monday.

“I think it was a provocation. Because of everything that was agreed and because of everything that happened. Xavi himself recognized it, maybe they shouldn’t have done it,” Collett said on the RAC1 program ‘El Mon’.

At the end of the derby, Barça and its coaching staff celebrated the title with a wheel in the center of the stadium, a celebration that was interrupted after dozens of blue and white supporters took to the pitch.

Thanks to the help of the Mossos d’Esquadra and the personal security of the stadium, the Barca players had access to the dressing room tunnel without compromising their physical integrity.

However, Collett believes that in the “circumstance” in which the derby was played, “with a team playing relegation and a foot and a half in the second division”, the celebration should have been avoided.

“Once the game was over and the players hugged each other, everyone left the bench… then nobody said anything. A club agreement was reached. The second part (of the celebration) was actually a provocation, approved by them. ” he insisted.

In addition, Joan Collette pointed out that Barcelona had ignored the Mossos de Escuatra, who, according to him, had asked them not to celebrate the “first” title in that way.

“If the Mosos tell you not to pass through a street, they can rob you, and eventually they will rob you, and naturally the aggressor should be blamed, but you must not pass any more,” the former president said. Blue and White Company.
