In his statement, Lutsky explained that the decision was made due to a disagreement over the coverage of the recent electoral process in Venezuela, which has been subject to several allegations of fraud.

“I resigned from my job as a news anchor at Telesur because of the election fraud in Venezuela,” Ludsky said in the video. He also shared a personal experience that prompted him to go public with his resignation: “On the flight back, a Venezuelan immigrant promised me he would make a video about it.”

Lutsky noted that it is impossible to provide continuous news under the current circumstances. “I cannot stand in front of the cameras and say that the best and safest electoral system in the world is the best and safest electoral system in the world, amid the barrage of allegations of electoral malpractice,” he explained.

The journalist opined that Venezuelan authorities had waited for days to take the video in the hope that they would release the election records, but that never happened.
