The airline passenger makes a fatal mistake and forces the flight to be cancelled

Recently, an Air China passenger panicked mid-flight He mistook the emergency exit for the bathroom door and turned on the plane's exit.

The situation occurred last Thursday, July 4, when Air China flight CA2754 was waiting on the runway at Quzhou Airport, Zhejiang, en route to Chengdu.

According to the 'South China Morning Post', this was the passenger's first time flying and he confused the emergency exit with the bathroom, causing the Airbus A320 to stall and force the flight to be cancelled.

The airline must transfer the passengers to a hotel and compensate them 400 yuan ($55) each.. Police questioned the person responsible, as opening an emergency door without permission is illegal in China and punishable by fines and administrative detention.

The error turned out to be very expensive for passengers, as the penalty for activating the emergency door was $28,000, the same media reported.

A passenger identified as Cheng told the same media outlet that “even the flight attendants were startled when the exit lane came out.” He also said, “The passenger cried when he asked for compensation.”

A photo of the plane on the runway with the slide went viral on social media, sparking a debate about safety ethics. In addition, other users doubt the veracity of the story, as it is difficult to believe that someone would confuse an emergency door with a bathroom.
