The Astros topped the A’s with seven home runs

OAKLAND — Yordon Alvarez hit two of Houston’s seven home runs and the Astros completed another series sweep with a 10-1 rout of the A’s on Sunday. Oakland has lost 11 straight.

Alvarez homered off opener Ken Waldychuk in the first, then hit another solo shot off Garrett Acton in the ninth shortly after Jeremy Pena homered. It was Alvarez’s second multi-homer game this week and the 15th of his career.

After missing Houston’s first 43 games with a broken right thumb, Jose Altuve had three hits. Jake Myers hit another three-run homer in the fourth. Chaz McCormick and Jose Abreu added two more solo shots as the Astros won their 14th in 17 games.

Christian Javier (6-1) allowed one run and four hits in five innings. The right-hander had three strikeouts and three walks.

For the Astros, Venezuelan Jose Altuve went 5-3 with two runs scored and an RBI. Dominicans Jeremy Pena went 4-1 with one run and two RBIs, while Yanar Diaz was 4-1 with an RBI. Cuba’s Yordon Alvarez went 5-2 with two runs and two RBIs, while Jose Abreu went 4-1 with one run and one driven in.

Dominican Ramon Laureno is 2-1 in athletics. Cuba Aledmis Diaz 2-1.
