The City Council ensures the maintenance of the green space in the Eduardo Barrón park when the new residential building is built

The Councilor for the Environment, Romualdo Fernández, met today with the promoters of the building that is being built in the passage of Candelaria Ruiz del Arbol, in front of the Eduardo Barrón park, in order to coordinate the action that will be carried out outside the building, based on two fundamental commitments: the maintenance of green space and the adequate urbanization of the passage.

The proposal presented includes the planning of the street, which is now a dead end used as an uncontrolled parking space, which will be conveniently developed with the provision of urban furniture, the renovation and reinforcement of the retaining wall bordering the park and the construction of two stairs that will give pedestrian access to the street towards the Eduardo Barrón park itself and the Ursicina Martínez gardens.

Regarding the situation of the park, the project guarantees the maintenance of the entire green area, with the exception of the small space occupied by the stairs, as well as the restitution of all the trees through the choice of species and appropriate size (about 3 meters high ), and with a result that is environmentally positive for the environment.

In this sense, the Councilor for the Environment regrets that the existing poplars have been cut down, but considers that the solution adopted is the most appropriate from an urban and environmental point of view, because it guarantees the maintenance of the entire green area and in optimal conditions, while allowing the recovery of a currently degraded urban space, such as the Candelaria Ruiz del Arbol passage, integrating it into the surroundings of Eduardo Barrón’s own park and the city as a whole.
