The Dodgers swept the Padres with Betts and Gonzolin

LOS ANGELES — Tony Gonsolin and four relievers combined for a three-hit shutout, Mookie Betts homered and the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 4-0 on Sunday to complete a three-game sweep and fifth in a row.

Gonzolin (1-1) allowed two hits, struck out six and raised his ERA to 1.42 in his third shutout of the Dodgers.

Miguel Rojas doubled in the third inning and one batter later Betts homered to deep left field to give the Dodgers a 2-0 lead.

The Dodgers made it 4-0 with two outs in the sixth. Brent Honeywell replaced Ryan Weathers (1-2) and was charged with a shot clock violation for taking too long to warm up. Miguel Vargas hit a double into the left field corner and Freddie Freeman drove in a run.

The Dodgers lead the National League in two-out situations with 88.

For the Dodgers, Cuban Miguel Vargas is 2-1 with two RBIs. Venezuela’s Miguel Rojas scored a run to make it 2-1.
