The Government will build a space in memory of those killed by Covid with the stones left after the march

The Government resolved on Tuesday to build a space in memory of those who died from the coronavirus with the stones with the names of the victims that protesters left in the Plaza de Mayo.

“In relation to the so-called ‘March of the Stones’ that took place this afternoon in commemoration of the victims of Covid-19, at the end of it the national government proceeded to collect the stones that were deposited with the names of the deceased to keep them appropriately and later face the construction of a space in his memory ”, indicated the spokespersons.

The central demonstration was held in the Plaza de Mayo, where people left the stones, after the march that had been called by social networks.

The call came up on social networks. The idea was based on the Jewish tradition of placing rocks on the tombstones of the deceased so that they last in time, unlike the Catholic custom of leaving flowers.

In this case, those who approached wrote the names of the dead on the stones. In Argentina, more than 109,000 people have lost their lives since the beginning of the pandemic.

Many Twitter users shared pictures and writings to remember their family members. Many considered that this mobilization turned into a “massive wake”, for which they could not be carried out during the moments of maximum restrictions. (DIB)
