Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry has stressed that the priority of the new authorities in the country is to hold national elections, which should be held “as soon as possible.”
“These elections must be held soon. Among the priorities of the government: to hold democratic, credible, transparent and impartial elections under optimal security conditions with the broad participation of the population, ”Henry was quoted as saying in his Communications Committee report.
The press release points out that these statements were made during the first “Cabinet” celebration since the assassination of Jovnell Moyes. “Prime Minister” Henry said the purpose of the election campaign was to “renew the political staff of Haiti.”
Haiti has been plagued by political and social instability since the beginning of this year, which worsened in early July with the assassination of incumbent President Juanel Moyes. New officers took charge last week, including Henry, who was appointed by Moise before he was assassinated.
