The plane made an emergency landing in Australia after circling the airport for several hours

(CNN) — Two passengers and a pilot escaped uninjured after a small plane was forced to make an aborted landing at Newcastle Airport in New South Wales, Australia.

The plane, a Beech B-200 Super King, burned fuel and circled for hours before making a “textbook” emergency landing, CNN affiliate Nine News reported.

The images recorded how the plane approaches the runway, lands and skids down the runway until it comes to a stop without the landing gear engaged.

The video shows how emergency vehicles are prepared and come to the aid of the aircraft.

New South Wales Police Superintendent Wayne Humphrey praised the 53-year-old pilot for the successful landing, saying no one was injured and passengers were able to get home, Nine News reported.

“It was a great result, very well done by the driver,” Humphrey said. “I could hear it in the air, and it seemed so peaceful to me.”

The plane circled the airport for several hours to burn off fuel.

Pilots in the control room burst into applause after seeing the plane land safely, Humphrey said.

The flight was scheduled to make a 26-minute journey from Newcastle to Port Macquarie, about 400 kilometers north of Sydney.
