KANSAS CITY, Missouri — Nicky Lopez had four RBIs, Michael Garcia and Bobby Witt had two each to lead the Kansas City Royals past the Los Angeles Dodgers as the Angels won the series 9-1 on Sunday.
The Royals have not won a streak in their last 12 meetings, matching the second-longest streak in franchise history.
Brady Singer (5-7) had a big role off the mound, allowing one run and three hits with four walks in seven innings.
The Royals took the lead in the second inning on Tony Gonzolin’s (4-3) single off Garcia, who also matched his career high with four hits, then struck out the right-hander in the fourth when they scored. Three more runs to go. Increase the difference.
Gonzolin allowed four runs and six hits in 3 2/3 innings and has now allowed 15 runs in his last 14 1/3 innings.
For the Dodgers, Venezuelan David Peralta is 4-3.
