Las Tunas.-Eight businesses with investigations aimed at increasing the production of honey and its derivatives were presented at the Science and Technology Forum of the Beekeeping Company in Las Tunas Province, where this entity can overcome the difficulties and achieve the largest quantities of these coveted foods.
Presentations dealt with topics such as production of honey, jelly, and pollen, working to source organic honey, beekeeping health, caring for the queen bee, and relocation.
The authors discuss the different ways to achieve greater efficiency and production, eliminating the so-called silent zones, and turning their gaze towards those municipalities such as Amancio and Manatí, with outstanding indications in obtaining honey, taking advantage of natural conditions and vegetation. The province to reach the year 2030 with more than 700 tons of the product as the main goal of the company.
One of the most innovative works has been the implementation of the SSAN for the Las Tunas beekeeping program, which identifies the local food system as the central focus for achieving sovereignty and food security while creating capacity at national, regional and municipal levels for sustainable and nutrition-sensitive strategies, as well as promoting regional autonomy and decentralization.
