In the last few hours, a disturbing video has been going viral on social networks, revealing a deplorable scene that took place in the Santos Suárez neighborhood, at the confluence of General Lagret and Juan Bruno Sayas streets, in the municipality of Tíz de Octobre.
Images captured in the above video show several desperate people trying to collect the spilled tomato pulp with plastic bags. An act that reflects the needs and deep deprivations affecting Cubans in these troubled times.

Unfortunately, this is not the first time Cubans have been forced to resort to desperate measures due to a lack of food and essentials.
In September of last year, another group found themselves in a similar situation in the municipality of San Miguel del Padrón in Havana, trying to recover broken eggs that had fallen from a truck. A similar incident occurred in October 2020 when Cubans were forced to collect the remains of a tank of liquid soap spilled from a truck on a street near Obispo Street in Old Havana.
These episodes are a painful reflection of the harsh economic reality facing Cuba, exacerbated by the persistent shortages of food and basic goods affecting the population.
