ENSENADA.- For the fourth consecutive year, the bird watching marathon was held, one of the main activities of the Bird Festival organized by the civil association Terra Peninsular in which 35 people from San Quintín, Ensenada, Tecate, Tijuana and San Luis Potosí, who went out to look for the largest number of bird species in a period of 5 days.
Claudia Guzmán, Coordinator of Awareness and Social Participation of Terra Peninsular AC, explained that this activity consists of searching, either individually or in teams, the largest number of bird species for a limited time, being the winning team, who registers visually or audibly the largest number of species.
“We can learn citizen science in a fun way, it was a family and healthy competition that allowed us to get to know the natural reserves and get closer to the migratory birds that arrive in the bay in winter,” he commented.
Some of the prizes in this edition are boat rides through the bay sponsored by the local company Servicios Turisticos Los Volcanes, nature photographs, bird watching guides, t-shirts, stickers and an illustration by the artist Annamaría Savarino, who was one of the speakers in the virtual activities program.
