The head of the Architectural Works Programme, Lucas Kimes, stated that the work of the Volbiani Park developed by the provincial government, in an area of more than 12 hectares, aims to provide a green, comfortable and safe space each for Juana Causlay’s neighbors and tourists from the region. “The state has reclaimed land to make a public park accessible to all,” the official said.
The project involves an actual intervention of 25% of the property, preserving all the local species (carob, white capracho, black carob), and will include the construction of commercial premises in the open spaces of the property where it will not be necessary to extract any tree.
All native species present in the place will be preserved and if a specimen is to be extracted, it will not be native (poplars, evergreens) and reforestation will be carried out with five native species.
Kimes said the county government has restored the land “with the goal of providing a fun space for all families, with the lowest possible environmental impact.”
The construction of the commercial buildings will be carried out in the open spaces of the estate that currently lack trees, thus avoiding the need for specimen cutting. “The location of the building is just opposite the hill, where there are no types of trees and it is the only flat area,” the official said.
“We as a county have always advocated for what the environment is,” Kimes said, noting that the environmental impact study was approved under the county law.
Once the construction is completed, the space will still be a green lung but is now more comfortable and safe for all the people who visit.
