Tigres del Lici wins the 2024 Panreservas Cup

Samto Domingo.- Tigres del Lycey won the Dominican Republic's Professional Baseball League's Panreservas Cup crown with a 3-2 victory over Estrellas Orientales in Tetelo Vargas and will now represent the 2024 Caribbean Series in Miami, USA. From 1st to 9th February.

Three runs in the third inning and a pitch that held off East's attacks proved decisive for Lycee, who had Jairo Asensio as the savior of the game with a perfect ninth.

It was the 24th crown for Tigres, the first team to win back-to-back titles in the league since Leones del Eskito did so in the 2011–12 and 2012–13 campaigns. Lyceum had not won back-to-back titles since 1982-83, when they began that campaign with three consecutive crowns.

It was the ninth time Dominican baseball's playoff series (seven games) has been decided in the seventh game, including three won by the Tigers, with tonight's win.

The Tigers started with two losses against them, won the next three, and fell in the sixth to Detelo Vargas to claim the crown.

The Stars, who have visited the final 19 times, were looking to lift their fourth trophy at this stage in this edition. They have reached the final three times in a row.


Sergio Alcantara started the Blue rally with a walk off starter Henry Sosa. He was thrown out at second on a throw by Emilio Bonifacio, who reached second base on a throwing error by shortstop Jose Barreiro, then scored on Gustavo Nunez's second hit.

The freshman East pitcher had little chance as he allowed a two-run double to left field that drove in News, and Ronon Hernandez hit another double to push Lugo to third.


Brooks Hall went four and three innings after getting into trouble in a one-run fifth inning for the Stars.

It was Hall's fifth inning thanks to a wild pitch that left runners on third and first. Carlos Vargas came in to replace him and, with the breeze not favoring the hitters, retired him with a deep hit through center field.

In the seventh, against Cameron Kahn, after one out, the Stars came close with Jose Barrero's double in which he advanced to second and then scored with a single to center field. That's how Kane finished his job, replacing him with foul flies to Jonathan Arrow, Dayron Blanco and Rymel Tapia.

Andy Otero pitched a fine five-and-a-third inning of relief in which he faced just two batters over the minimum, allowing two hits and striking out two.
