FC Barcelona take on AS Monaco at the Estadio Olympique Louis this Monday for the 59th edition of the Joan Camper Trophy.
A few days before the start of domestic leagues in Europe, both teams will conclude the preseason with a match that includes a historic championship.
Hansi's side drew against Manchester City (winning on penalties), then won a 2–1 classic against Real Madrid and drew 2–2 against Milan, where they lost on penalties.
Monaco come into this match with just one win from their previous five friendlies.
A camper like never before
It was the historic Ligue 1 team's first appearance in the Joan Camper Trophy, and the men's fifth in the French league (Montpellier played in the women's edition in 2022), after Nantes at Sochaux in Camper's inaugural event in 1966. in 1989, the Olympique de Marseille in 1991 and the Girondins de Bordeaux in 1993, all of which were still played in a quadrangular format.
Also, the 59th edition will bring the Blaugrana to Montjuic for the fourth time after the 1990, 1996 and last season's editions.
This year, the Joan Camper Trophy will hold a special significance as it will represent the team to fans in the year the club celebrates its 125th anniversary. It could also be the debut of Dani Olmo who has arrived at Barcelona.
