In a ceremony held at the Los Trupillos Holiday Center, Universidad Cooperativa de Colombia Campus Santa Marta Teachers Day was celebrated, a space of gratitude for the important work of teaching.
During the event, which took place on Tuesday 30 May, director Adriana Santarelli Franco highlighted the importance of teachers and their commitment to building the human tissues that allow us to bridge the gaps and make the world a much better place.
Likewise, the Deputy Director of Academics and Constitutional Projection, Juan Alonso Cortés, welcomed the teachers, noting the responsibility that teachers have in performing their work because they are co-creators of the human being.
For his part, student representative Jorge Mario Mangaris thanked them for their teaching work, which is no more than a training for life, human beings capable of contributing to building a better society.
The ceremony was a space to share and celebrate, but also to highlight the many of our professors who have excelled in the academic, research and social fields, and pillars of UCC.
Among the recipients was Professor Catalina Olaya López, as Leader of Rizoma, a recognition focused on glorifying the work done by the professors on this committee for its impact, integration of the academic community, and collaborative work.
In the same way, teachers rose through the ranks according to the decision of Chaplain No. 1, which was in recognition of him: Marlon Corman Medina, who went from aspiring professor to assistant professor. Andrea Carolina Rodriguez Fernandez, an aspiring assistant professor; José Javier Novaz Castillo, aspiring professor to assistant professor; Nene Milena Quintero Ramírez is an aspiring assistant professor.
Finally, recognition as inspiring teachers went to Selina Esther Álvarez Vargas, from the Psychology Program, who won in the category of Excellence in Social and Solidarity Management; Martha de la Caridad Martín Carbonell, of the Psychology program in the Excellence category for Investigative Work and María Margarita Rosa Sierra Carrillo, of the Environmental Engineering program, winner of the Academic Excellence category.
During the day of the celebration, there was a presentation of the campus folk music, dance and vallenato groups, who prepared various performances along with their instructors to celebrate our inspiring teachers.
