The University of the Americas Puebla presented awards and recognition to the high school students who won the ninth edition of the UDLAP Science Prize Where is the Science?, a competition aimed at recognizing the interest and commitment of young people in spreading science.

“Nine years ago, this idea arose to support young people interested in studying any of the science-related careers. Ninth Edition of the UDLAP Science Prize Where is the Science? The goal was for young students to demonstrate the existence and use in society of disciplines such as physics, biology, data science, nutrition, nanoscience and nanotechnology; Therefore, participants created a video showing, with real examples, the contributions made by the above categories, indicating where the science is located.

The ninth edition of this competition witnessed a large participation that led to the receipt of a total of 122 video clips from 14 institutions in 7 states in the Mexican Republic. These projects were evaluated by an academic jury composed of professors from the UDLAP College of Sciences, who were tasked with choosing the best 3 projects in the competition. Each category, evaluating the originality, creativity, ability to communicate and inform, social relevance and scientific accuracy of the videos.

These are the first place winners in the ninth edition of the UDLAP Science Prize. Where is the science? They were: In the Biology class there was a video called “Identifying Problems and Finding Solutions” by María Reynoso Mazoy; In the Data Science category, the winner was “Data Science as an Indispensable Factor for Government” by Rodrigo Labra Pisano; In the Physics category, the first place video was “Discovering Mechanics in Our Daily Lives” by Abinmar Alboris Dominguez; In Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, the winning video was “La Nanomedicina” by Cassandra Guerrero Meza; In the nutrition category, the winner was “Cricket flour: can it replace wheat flour?” Written by Maria Fernanda Dingfelder Borbola.
