LOS ANGELES — Dalton Varshaw hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the 11th inning to lead the Toronto Blue Jays to a 6-3 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night.
Matt Chapman hit it out of the park in the eighth for the Blue Jays, who won for the 11th time in 16 games.
Toronto scored in the 11th on a throwing error by 11th baseman Chris Taylor and a single by Whit Merrifield on Warshaw’s low line drive before Jason Heyward was fouled out. With all aboard, Bo Bichette went to the finals with Bill Pickford (2-3), taking the loss 6-3.
Jay Jackson (3-0) pitched two scoreless innings in relief for the win. All-Star closer Jordan Romano earned his 28th save, tying Baltimore’s Felix Bautista for the American League lead.
Blue Jays, Dominicans Vladimir Guerrero Jr. 6-1, with RBI; Santiago Espinal 3-1, scored a goal. Mexico’s Alejandro Kirk, 4-1, scored a run.
Dodgers, Venezuela’s David Peralta 4-0; Yoni Hernandez 2-0: Miguel Rojas 2-0.
