Tom Hanks plays Forrest with a great cast including Sally Field, Robin Wright and a young Haley Joel Osment. The film was a huge success at the box office and won six Oscars in 1995, including Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor.

One aspect of the film that has attracted fans the most is the fact that the story is based on true events. Although the plot is inspired by real historical figures and events, the answer is negative.

However, it should be remembered that the film is an adaptation of the 1986 novel of the same name by Winston Groom. The author dedicated his work to two friends, including Jimbo Meador, so it is believed that he influenced the creation of Gump. In 2019, the writer told Gordon & Gunn magazine that “I don't know any of the real Forrest Gump characters, even though my friend Jimbo is always blamed.”

A different story happens with the second friend mentioned in the dedication: George Radcliffe, who along with other people was the inspiration to shape the character of the protagonist and other related characters.
