The Houston Astros (52-27) are flying comfortably toward the American League West pennant. This Monday, July 4th, the Sidereals hit their 7th straight game against the Kansas City Royals.

Just seven hits were enough to score the same number of runs and make it seven for six, much to the delight of the nearly 34,000 people who decided to celebrate Independence Day at Minute Maid Park.

The game went five-for-zero in the third inning for the visitors, but a three-run response in the eighth and a spectacular finish in the ninth led to another Astros victory.

With two outs, Las Dunas’ player walked to the batter’s box to face rival Scott Barlow. On a three-ball count, a strike hit a right-handed slider and sent the ball 444 feet to center-right. Hit exit velocity of 112.6 miles per hour. Spectacular.

“We said on the bench that we can’t finish ninth, someone has to decide,” Alvarez said in an interview at the foot of the pitch in front of a full stadium.

It was Yarden’s 24th homer and 57th RBI of the year. He went 1-for-3 with two walks during the game and led all of Major League Baseball in OPS with 1,063.

4th of July is great for Cuba. Homerun, walkoff, 444 feet. Let’s celebrate. We leave you with the pictures.
